Terms of use
Last updated
These terms apply to motfiles.co.uk. The site is published by Omega IT. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
What the site is for
The MOT Files lets you look up a UK vehicle’s MOT history and read explanations of defects, warning lights and related data. It is information, not advice, and not a substitute for a test, a professional inspection, or the official record on GOV.UK.
Official records
Vehicle MOT histories and the anonymised testing dataset are Crown copyright, reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We interpret them; we do not replace them. If anything here disagrees with DVSA, treat DVSA as correct.
This site is not affiliated with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, or GOV.UK.
No warranty
The service is provided as is. Lookups can fail, caches can be stale, and aggregate figures are properties of fleets, not predictions about one car. We are not liable for decisions made on the back of a page here — buying, selling, repairing, or driving — to the fullest extent the law of the Isle of Man allows.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other readers, do not attempt to access the admin portal without authorisation, and do not use lookups to try to identify a keeper. Keeper data is not available here.
Your content
Notes you store in the garage never leave your browser. We do not host user accounts or public comments.
